The death toll in the deadly attack on Ivory Coast’s Grand Bassam resort by close of Sunday had reached 22.
14 civilians, 2 soldiers and 6 terrorists were killed at the seaside resort of Grand Bassam 40 kilometers from Abidjan.
Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara denounced the attack and promised to get to the bottom of what happened.
“These cowardly terrorist attacks will not be tolerated in Ivory Coast… I would say to all our citizens and all people that the situation is under control. Calm has returned , and we will continue to strengthen security in Grand- Bassam , Abidjan , and on the entire Ivorian territory ,” he said.
French Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Interior are expected to arrive in in Abidjan on Tuesday. Paris and Washington have promised logistical support in the investigation.
The Islamist group, Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb claimed the attack
